Illustration: Light at the End of the Tunnel

1/400 5.6 ISO-100

This might sound cliche but my illustration has to do with the stress of school and reminding people that their is a light at the end of the tunnel. I have dealt with the weight that school brings and sometimes I feel like I just want to throw in the towel and have the attitude of I don't care anymore. The truth is that my ultimate goal is to walk away from Dixie State University with my Bachelors Degree and better knowledge about life and the right decisions to make. Every day, I find things to keep me motivated and stay charging forward.

Context

Physical: This shot was taken from my dorm on campus and I waited until the sun was setting to attract the horizon. The sun was really fiery which made for a cool shot and you get the glare and reflection as a result.

Psychological: There is always a light at the end of the tunnel meaning that the sun might set in life sometimes. Darkness may arise along the journey but finding the strength and courage to continue will counteract that. Remember no matter how bad your day was, there will always be another which provides a chance for people to redeem themselves. Also, the sun never loses its brightness even as it is setting. My advice is to find ways to stay motivated because in the end, it'll pay off.

Social: The sun sets after each day but it won't be the last time you see it because it'll rise back up in the morning. Life may get tough at times and drain you to where you don't feel like you can make it but when you dig deep inside yourself, you'll be amazed of what you're capable of.

Cultural: It is amazing how much the sun affects us and consumes us with warmth given how far away it is from Earth. I took this shot from my dorm room and the sun was setting on the opposite side of St. George still reaching areas of my room. My religion beliefs tell me that it is God leading the way in my life and shining the light on me to encourage me to finish it out.

Temporal: This image to be taken metaphorically with the sun never losing its brightness and the fact that no humans are in the picture develops ones own interpretation of the light is shining on all of us to continue through the struggle. The semester eats up most our free time and keeps many people stressed but watching a sunset can be peaceful and remind us to sometimes relax, be in a stable right mind and think about smart choices.

F/14 1/50 ISO-800. I love this picture but hate the fact that her hand is in it which diminishes the shot, thought I should still post it though.
